Laboratory and Functional

We offer a broad range of innovative specialty and routine diagnostics. We work with the most reputable laboratories to assure quality results in a timely fashion to our patients.

Advanced Cholesterol testing and Cardiac Risk markers

This test includes advanced lipid testing and cardiac risk markers that are not routinely tested by conventional physicians.  Included in the panel are LDL and HDL subclasses.  Measurement of LDL cholesterol or ‘bad cholesterol’ tested as part of the conventional lipid panel is not adequate for determining cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.  LDL measurement on standard cholesterol tests may be ‘normal’ while advanced testing of LDL subclasses may indicate increased CVD risk.  Advanced testing also includes testing for lipoproteins and inflammatory markers which are cardiac risk markers and are predictors of CVD risk.

24 Hour Urinary Hormone Analysis

Urinary testing of hormones and hormone metabolites is an accurate way to assess hormones and endocrine function including female and male sex hormones, thyroid hormones, adrenal hormones and growth hormone.  Urinary testing of hormones can be superior to blood testing since hormone levels fluctuate throughout the day and advanced hormone testing includes 24 hour assessment of urinary hormone values.

Aspirin Response Test

Research shows that 25% of patient’s on daily ASA therapy are not experiencing the benefits.  The Aspirin Response Test is a new cutting edge clinical tool from a specialty laboratory which identifies Patient’s not responding to the benefits of Aspirin therapy.  This test helps determine if Aspirin is actually helping prevent blood clots from forming by measuring Thromboxane A2, a substance associated with clot formation.  This knowledge will help us customize and alter treatment for our patient’s resulting in further prevention of heart attacks.

Allergy Testing (Food and Environmental)

Food and environmental allergies contribute to common symptoms suffered by

many patients today.  By identifying and eliminating the allergen, not only due the symptoms disappear, but the immune system is strengthened.  Even if allergy symptoms are masked with pharmaceuticals, unless the allergen is identified and eliminated, the immune system is still under attack and hyper surveillant.  As far as your immune system is concerned, it’s not enough to mask the symptoms of allergy with pharmaceutical drugs.  To stop the immune system from reacting to the allergen and causing further disease, allergens must be identified and eliminated.

Amino Acid Testing

Amino acids are the building blocks to proteins which are used in metabolic body functions.   Amino Acid deficiency and imbalance can cause and contribute to many disease states.  Amino Acids are also the building blocks to neurotransmitters which are the chemical messengers used by the brain in signaling.  Mood Disorders, anxiety, and depression are some of the symptoms of neurotransmitter imbalance caused by amino acid deficiency or imbalance.

Complete Blood panel, Cancer Markers

This is the panel of blood work conventionally used by physicians to assess health. This is a necessary initial step in diagnostics however usually only reveals clues about more progressed disease states.  Cancer markers can be tested in the blood and can be used as a screening tool for certain cancers or to follow treatment progress.

Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis

This test evaluates digestion, absorption, gut flora, and the colonic environment and is indicated in all chronic gastrointestinal problems, for acute bowel pattern changes, and for many systemic diseases.  Diagnosing and treating gut dysfunction and dysbiosis is the initial step in healing and treating most chronic diseases.  Gastrointestinal dysfunction is usually the first step in disease development and proper treatment cannot take place until gastrointestinal function is improved and optimized through proper diagnosis and treatment.

Genetic Testing

When truly personalized healthcare is desired, genomic testing offers an advanced healthcare model for more effectively preventing and treating chronic disease.  Genomic testing unveils patient’s individual genetic variation in genes modulating diseases including blood pressure regulation, lipid balance, nutrient metabolism, inflammation, autoimmune disease, bone health, risk of impaired detoxification, susceptibility to adverse drug reactions, and many others. This lays the scientific groundwork for truly personalized medicine.  Genomic testing is also very helpful when challenging clinical road blocks to health are found and can shed light to the overall picture of the patient’s health and disease and allow for better healing and prevention.

Growth Hormone Evaluation

Heavy Metal Testing

Toxic metals can accumulate in the body.   Heavy metals do not have any useful physiological function and adversely affect virtually every organ system and disrupt the balance of vital nutrient elements.  Acute metal poisoning is rare but chronic low level exposure to toxic metals is much more common and results in adverse health effects and chronic disease.  Toxicity occurs when retention exceeds physiological capacity. When clinically implicated we will administer a metal detoxification agent in a safe manner and a timed urine collection is sent to the specialty laboratory for evaluation and to determine your body’s net retention of toxic heavy metals.

Neurotransmitter Evaluation

Urine Iodine/Iodide

Iodine is an essential element that is pivotal to normal function of the thyroid gland and health of breast tissue.  Iodine/Iodide intake has decreased significantly over the past 30 years in the US and as a consequence clinical symptoms have become apparent.  Iodine/Iodide sufficiency can be assessed by urinary analysis.  Adequate Iodine status is essential for the production of Thyroid Hormone and the health of breast tissue including protection from Fibrocystic Breast disease and Breast Cancer.
