In the US there are millions of people, more women than men, who suffer from thyroid disease, and unfortunately many go untreated or mistreated. Dr. Tahzib provides service to Redondo Beach and also serves other states including Denver, Colorado. Her office is located in Los Angeles.
What Is Thyroid Disease?
Thyroid disease is a medical condition that keeps your thyroid from producing the right amount of hormones. Hormones are produced to keep your body functioning properly but when your gland does not produce the necessary hormones then you can feel unwell. This is when patients come in to see a doctor to find out what could potentially be the cause.
Our Approach To Thyroid Disease
Typically when being tested for thyroid issues there is one test that is run. Blood is drawn and your TSH is tested. If the numbers come back within a preset range or might be slightly below or above that range then the disease can be underdiagnosed. Sometimes depending on the symptoms described to your doctor, it goes untested altogether.
Here in Dr. Tahzib’s office, 8 tests are conducted that are specific to the thyroid gland as well as other types of testing that has to do with nutrition and other essential functions for the gland. In our office, we also take the approach of believing what the patient is saying and not what previous labs say. We take this approach because we do not know if there is a lab error and we also know that the ranges for normalcy can range from lab to lab. We will always take the patient and what they are saying first over tests.
When it comes to anything health related there are always questions to be asked. Here are a few regarding the thyroid.
What are the symptoms of thyroid disease?
If you have a thyroid that is low functioning these are a few of the symptoms you may experience:

- And Many, Many More Symptoms
Many of these symptoms can be written off as being in your head, or as just daily life taking its toll on you but typically there is an actual reason. Let us help you get to the bottom of it.
What Are The Types Of Thyroid Problems A Person Can Experience?
Hypothyroidism is the most common issue that people experience. This is where your gland is not producing enough hormones for your body.
Hyperthyroidism is another issue people may experience. This is where your gland is producing more hormones than your body needs.
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is the other issue that some people may have. This is an autoimmune disease that makes the body attack the thyroid gland causing it to deteriorate over time.
